Certain dietary compounds have a calming effect on the nervous system.  We feel these are the best for pets:

L-Tryptophan:  An essential amino acid and natural relaxant, tryptophan is a necessary precursor of serotonin, melatonin, 5-HTP and niacin.

Taurine:  The amino acid taurine is important for lowering the release of cortisol, increasing the production of GABA (gama-aminobutyric acid), and regulating chemical signals between nerve cells in the brain.

B-Vitamins:  Pyridoxine (B6),Niacinimide (Vitamin B3), Folic Acid and Cobalamin (Vitamin B12) are essential for production of neurotransmitters, hormones, proteins and for regulating normal brain activity essential for handling stress. Folic acid is thought to be particularly important for mood stabilization and reducing anxiety and panic.

Hops:  Hops (Humulus lupus) has been shown to work as a central nervous system relaxant, both on the nervous system and as a muscle relaxant.

Chamomile:  Clinical research has shown that chamomile contains a mild sedative and can help decrease anxiety.

Ginger:   Shown to settle motion sickness and nausea, ginger may also help the nausea your pet experiences when "fight or flight" kicks in.
